Who are we and what do we do ?
We made our home at Holly Cottage in 2014. We are privileged to live in the rural hidden gem
that lies between Horwich and Chorley, off the M61 in Lancashire. We are only 20 miles from
Manchester City Centre but worlds away from the rat race.
After arriving with 2 large horses and 2 small dogs, we now share our home with 3 dogs,
5 pure bred Highland Ponies ( 7 if you count the babies our mares are baking), rare breed poultry,
12 Ryeland sheep..... and Tulip, the stable cat.
We are also pleased to share this beautiful place with our caravan guests, who come to stay
on our one acre Certificated Site. Our guests enjoy wonderful walking from the doorstep,
3 good pubs within easy walking distance and the market town of Chorley is only 3 miles away,
so you aren't far away from a Booth's supermarket and a decent coffee. We are happy to advise you on local places to eat and shop but Tuesday Market Day is not to be missed. Chorley has lots going on but the super 2 day Chorley Flower Show each July is becoming a highlight and Chorley Little Theatre always delights.
Caravan guests have a huge variety of activities to enjoy. Rivington Pike is clearly visible from the site, if you feel energetic. Healey Nab is right behind us with a lovely gentle walk to the Memorial Forest or to take in the wonderful views of Lord Leverhulme's 3 picturesque reservoirs. Day tickets are available locally for fishing. Stroll or cycle over the Nab to the beautiful village of White Coppice and watch a game of cricket on one of England's most beautiful cricket grounds. Or ask Kevin to direct you through our own fields to the "secret" valley where our local owls and deer live and where your dog can paddle in the pretty River Yarrow.
You could also explore historic Astley Hall or Hoghton Tower, both a short drive away. Both Halls hold special events throughout the year, including open-air theatre and opera. Botany Bay retail Mill is about 3 miles away for clothing, homeware, gifts and garden centre. There is also a great artisan baker there for lovely bread.

Holly Cottage free range eggs and homemade preserves are now well-known in the
area, with people coming from miles around to buy from the little honesty stall at the gate. We have eggs available for most of the year but we like to give our hardworking hens a rest during November and December so please forgive us if there are no eggs for sale at that time of year.
We occasionally have hens, sheep and Highland ponies for sale.
